Funny name, ain't it? Even if it isn't, don't worry, you'll know who or what 'Social Animal' is, soon.
I'm not one to make everyone laugh, neither am I to solve anyone's problems. Believing in the fact that we all have our opinions, I just want to share mine and have others share theirs with me.
They tell us when we're growing up that if you're having a ball with your set of friends, you're lucky. And if you're quite close with your loving family, there's nothing like it. And to top it all, if in some cases, you have a girlfriend or a boyfriend, you have everything. They tell us no matter how huge or devastating our problems in life may be, these groups of people, if we have them in our lives, then nothing can stop us from being happy.
Firstly, if someone is to ask me, I really can't define who 'they' are, and that's exactly where the social animal starts with. If one does not know where or who they are being told by about something, you really think that's the way to go? I mean, sure, 21st century, Facebook posts, Twitter hash-tags and motivational images on Instagram are supposed to help me, but they're not supposed to teach me how to live, right?
Yes, our parents make us learn the rights and the wrongs of life, but who helps us test how to make sure the right things are efficiently done or not?
This is where the Social Animal falters. It cannot control who to know the meaning of life from, it does not know who to be accountable for when it fails in its ways. Because this Social Animal has been time and again taught two things. One, it's gonna be a hard life and second, you gotta find your own way in the same life you were just told is very hard.
I mean, it's like an amateur 18 year old with a newly made learners' licence told to go drive a Gallardo and at the same time make sure it doesn't get hit.
So this Social Animal is one which probably is your age, goes to college/work, has to make sure it gives adequate time to the family, whilst at the same time be doubly sure that it keeps its friends i.e. other Social Animals happy through any contact (hanging out, WhatsApp, phone call.. I'm not going further) and only because it fears it'll lose them if not kept happy (you know like how pets work) and as I said also, if having a girlfriend/boyfriend has to make them happy too. So it's about keeping happy, spending time, doing your shit too.
The Social Animal has all the tools, the friends, the family, the partner to be able to fight its problems, but in all this, is it really able to fight its problems?
Now, I'm not one to give a lecture to teach the world how to 'live for yourself', because we all already know that. I want to try through my perspective and ask you whether you somewhere are able to figure out who the Social Animal is or not.
If you know a Social Animal dealing with this, tell them it's not the end of the world. If in case you don't, then at least spare a thought for the others.
Man did evolve from animal species (apes), but that doesn't mean it has to literally stay within the tag of 'animal' species.
Trust me, I'm not gonna keep boring you with such posts forever, but I feel what's wanting to be told, must be told. It's just a start.
Until next time.
